Jessica "Jess" Daniels, LMHC, NCC, SUDP
My goal with starting this practice is to allow for increased flexibility in holistic and individualized care for my clients. Each person is different, and therefore the tools required to assist them may fluctuate. I approach counseling as an integrative therapist, utilizing tools from a multitude of approaches to address your specific concerns. I've been trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) as well as CBT+ for anxiety and depression, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Gottman Level 1 & 2 for couples counseling. I provide psychoeducation on coping skills, stress management, effective communication, and emotional regulation methods. I draw on information from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Integrative Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help develop an approach that is appropriate for your specific concerns.
I believe it is important to address each person from a mind/body/spirit approach. Research shows that our bodies store the experiences from our life that have brought us into the now, and if left unaddressed, the impact can be detrimental to our wellbeing. I help you to focus on healthy lifestyle choices that can improve your functioning. I am trained in Yoga Calm, which allows me to teach specific breathing, mindfulness techniques, and yoga poses that relate to your mental wellness. I have studied the impacts of religion/spirituality on overall wellbeing, and help you to formulate a plan for therapy that respectfully aligns with your specific values, moral code, and belief system.
Though I have a passion for continued learning and challenging myself to grow as a counselor through continued trainings, I think my biggest asset is my authentic and transparent approach to healing. Over 70% of progress in counseling is determined by the therapeutic alliance you build with your counselor. You need to feel seen, heard, and respected to feel safe enough to work on yourself. I believe you are the writer of your story, and my role is to help create a space where I can stand along side of you, provide guidance and perspective, and to give you honest feedback as we walk this journey together. I am licensed in the state of Washington as a Mental Health Counselor, a Substance Use Disorder Professional, and a Clinical Supervisor. I am a Nationally Board Certified Counselor and have extensive experience working with a variety of mental health disorders.
Above all, I am a human first! I am a wife and a mother of 3, a musician, a writer, a small town, farm girl that's backpacked overseas. I am an animal lover and hope that occasional appearances from fur babies are welcomed in session!
